


NEESit Google Earth enables users to:
The NEESit Google Earth file is a growing set of earthquake engineering-related points of interest.
To use NEESit's Google Earth file you must first install the Google Earth application available at http://earth.google.com
. Next, download the NEESit KML file by clicking on the link to the right. Double click neesit.kml to load the file. If double clicking does not work, launch Google Earth and choose Open... from the File menu, then locate and select neesit.kml.
Once neesit.kml has been loaded, a folder called NEESit will appear under the Temporary Places folder. The NEESit folder contains other folders including:
In order to view or hide the entire contents of a particular folder, check or uncheck the checkbox next to the folder of interest. Unchecking unnecessary folders helps reduce clutter.
To expand a folder to see each individual entry, click on the disclosure element (a plus sign on Windows or a triangle on MacOS).
To view a particular point of interest, double click on that point's name. The display will then navigate itself to the appropriate geographical position.
To search the reconnaissance report abstracts, expand the following sequence of folders: Temporary Places → NEESit → Reports. Click on "Search Reports." A web browser instance will open to a page with a query box. Enter your query and press the "Submit" button. A new KML file called search.kml will be saved to your desktop. Load the new KML file by double clicking on it. Your search results will be located at Temporary Places → search.kml.
